Kandinsky Concentric Circles

Our kindergarteners learned about Wassily Kandinsky’s art to begin with and we discussed movement, repeated shapes, and color. The students used washable markers to color each square of their folded paper to create their background painting. They then used water to “paint”, spreading the color from the marker to the corners of the squares. They then worked on their fine motor skills to cut out concentric circles out of mixed media paper. Once their circles were glued they finished their piece using oil pastels to repeat their circle patters and add more texture and color.
